Is The Lazertag System Worth Buying?
The Lazertag System is great fun for kids and adults alike. Whether indoors or outside, charging around, ducking for cover, aiming up great shots and taking out your opponent is exciting and keeps you entertained for hours.
Each box includes 2 guns, allowing 2 players to challenge each other head-to-head. However, it’s possible to join larger games with other people who also have the Lazertag System, which means that you can have big multiplayer games of 30 or more people with friends and family.
The guns have excellent range being able to shoot 200 feet or more, although this does reduce in bright sunlight. Even so, this means you can play games over a very large area and make games truly strategic for all involved.
One of the greatest benefits of this toy, from a parent’s perspective, is that it encourages active play. Kids will be running round like Olympic sprinters, getting all the exercise they could possibly need and burning off that excess energy that keeps them so hyped up indoors.
The game also encourages kids to play outside, another great point for parents. Kids can take these into fields or woods and really let loose. The extra space and freedom means they’ll have even more fun and be getting some fresh air at the same time.
Despite these good points, there are some real drawbacks to the Lazertag System. One of these is that no batteries are included. This is a shame, given that this toy isn’t cheap. What’s also annoying is just how quickly the game eats through batteries. If you’re planning to play a lot, you’re advised to invest in rechargeable batteries, as each gun takes 6 x AA batteries which will last for only a couple of days of heavy use.
A bigger problem with the toy is durability. Many guns develop faults quickly. Some stop firing, others stop registering hits, and others are no longer able to reload. All of these problems stop play completely unless you have any spare lazer guns.
Whilst some technically minded parents may be able to repair a broken gun using instructions from the internet, for most this won’t be an option. As such, it’s best to keep the receipt and box that the guns came in. It would also be advisable to purchase the guns from a toy store rather than over the internet, as these carry a 90-day returns policy.
Over all, the guns are great fun but suffer from reliability issues. Provided you retain the receipt you hopefully won’t have any problems, but beware that Lazertag System 2PK might not last.
